Carla is a Mexican artist based in Toronto, born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. She completed her BFA at OCAD University with distinction , and creates artworks in varying mediums such as Photography (Analog & Digital) , Sculpture, Printmaking and Film.

In her art, she explores themes of identity and the unseen. Through evocative imagery and symbolism of madness, empathy, disability and grief ,she triggers emotions of nostalgic longing.

She considers herself a visual storyteller, as all of her works are autobiographical in nature.

Why is it important for people to have art in their home or life?

The human experience has always been too complex to express through simple words, surrounding ourselves with art helps us understand the world and our deeper selves through visual metaphor of unseen aspects of existence, both good and bad.
